Power Series Part 19: Power of Love

Let me first give a shout out to my Starbucks worker friend's grandma.
Patricia McCoy, I pray you will be encouragedHby the writings and other stuff!  Have a blessed day!

How cliche is Sam's title right?!

Want to know something really cool about the date today? Well, let me tell you anyway. So, today is December 13, 2018. This is the date me and Joe first said I love you to one another way back in 1999. It's a funny story of when we said it. That is why it will forever be memorable. :-) Do I remember this date every year? I don't know about Joe. However, if you ask me, the answer is no. We all know how weird Sam's memory is.

Again, God is so funny that he planned for me to write about the Power of Love on the "I love you day" of me and my husband. And the date that I'm doing this writing of Power of Love is on the 19th. (MONNIVERSARY.) I've known this man for 19 years. Isn't God funny? :-)

So, that was just a fun little thing I wanted to share before my writing.

The Power of Love. Which one of you agrees that there is total power in love? I'm not saying that power is positive. And I'm not saying that the power is negative. All the time. All I'm saying is there is something about love having power.

I'm going to add chapter 13 of Corinthians. The love chapter. Then I'm going to also offer my deep thoughts.

1 Corinthians 13New International Version (NIV)
13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal."

Speaking without the feeling or thought of love is not what we all are supposed to be doing. We need to be mindful of when we do that. We need to stop acting or faking love but showing love.

"2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing."

"Giving to the poor can be a beautiful thing. However, check yourself. Are you giving so that you can boast about what you have done? Are you giving to the poor so people will commend you and praise you for what you have done? Are you giving to the poor out of love or not out of love? Check that about yourself.

"4 Love is patient, " Oh boy and don't I know it! Oh boy and don't I fail in following it!" love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. "

I do believe that we should not keep a record of wrongs. That is where forgiveness comes. However, I do strongly believe that Satan will do what he can to make us remember the wrong that certain person did. That way we can bring up harsh feelings again and totally forget about forgiving the person. Pray to God that you will remember for giving that person. The bad that they did went out the window and is to never come back! Pray, pray pray!

"6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. "

I guess there are many ways you can interpret this one. What I'm getting is love does not Delight in Satan. Love rejoices with God!

"7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. "

I usually say that we should not reference anything with the word always and never. However, if it's coming from God's words we can definitely put truth in the word always and never.

"8 Love never fails."

Love Never Fails? Well, then I guess that would be very encouraging to us, right?

But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

"9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me."

Are we being mindful of that? It seems pretty straightforward, don't act like a kid! I don't know, I believe that the kid is still in all of us and depending on how strong the tampering is from other people, we should not be surprised the kid in us might come out. I think when that happens, we just need to be extra mindful and switch to adult mode right away!

"12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see "face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.13 And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love!
