Power Series Part 38: Power Of The Milk

Play for the Audio Version

You guys know what I like for breakfast? I mean, like my all time favorite thing to eat for breakfast. It's cereal. What? Expecting me to say something else? Were you maybe expecting me to say something a little bit more fancy sounding? A more delectable, well-known dish for breakfast? I beg to differ. Cereal is very yummy!

Okay maybe, I will change my sentence to my favorite breakfast to eat at home in the early morning. Yes, that would be cereal. Let me explain, for those who seem to be a little bit interested. :-)

Oh, wait there may be times, I could go for some oatmeal. That's easy to eat. Joe hates oatmeal. But, he will eat it. He just doesn't consider it actual food. But, he will eat it if he's trying to lose weight or something. He will eat it for health reasons.

The reason I choose cereal is because it is tasty. And, it's quick to eat. See, in the beginning years with my MS, I made a lot of Life Changes. And, eating breakfast was one of them. See, for me taking all my medicines and vitamins is really the start of my day. And, my taste buds in the early morning have become more like just, " I need something to put in my mouth so I can have food with my pills." I don't really enjoy eating it too much. You guys get what I mean?" Sometimes when that's done, I'll begin to crave like some kind of pastry or something. If we go out for breakfast maybe to a restaurant or something, I believe the Lord tames my stomach and I comfortably waited like 4 hours 1 time before till I ate.

I think that's why I like breakfast for dinner. Ask my husband, those are the times when I ask for pancakes, omelets, waffles, bacon, crepes, all the good stuff! Please don't give me oatmeal or cereal.

Okay, enough of that.

Well, in those cereal times, I loved it right.... but Joe could not eat cereal. He just didn't like it. Well, he liked Cheerios, and fruit loops, oh and I did get him to start liking to eat cinnamon toast crunch. I know right? Thank God for that.

Then Joe figured out what was wrong. He never told me in the beginning that his stomach hurt when he ate cereal. That was probably why he did not like to eat cereal! I totally would have understood if he told me that. Recently, he finally told me he was lactose intolerant. So, I totally understood. I wasn't going to make him have a stomach ache by making him eat cereal. So, during that time I ate cereal and he would like to eat a pastry or something. We both were happy. No stomach ache for Joe.

Then one day I found out about almond milk. Think I was doing some recipe. Anyway, I asked Joe if almond milk would make his stomach hurt. Then he tried it. And, it didn't make his stomach hurt.

So, the happy ending is Joe can now eat cereal as long as he eats it with almond milk. Now, our breakfasts at home alternate between cereal with almond milk, pastries and maybe a bagel every now and then.

Moral of the writing is this. God can provide and in mine and Joe's case He did!

Philippians 4:19 ESV

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
