Power Series Part 37: Power Of The PBJ

Play for the Audio Version

Good morning. I'm going to kind of take a story I have mentioned before. However, I'm going to speak from another perspective.

Let me elaborate a little bit more. Maybe you do or maybe you do not remember the story I mentioned about the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Just to recap, many years ago when I was probably 8 years old or so this happened. In grade school, if you bought your lunch you were considered "cool." My parents would always make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for me so, no I never bought my lunch. And no, I was not considered cool.

The logic of an 8-year-old is to do one thing. And that is just throw away the lunch that the parents gave me. And to do that without them seeing that I was throwing it away! Unfortunately for me, that really didn't fall in my favor. That story reminded me of this Bible story. The story about the fall of Man.

God told Adam and Eve they could eat from any tree in the garden except the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam and Eve disobeyed. They probably thought they were all good since God didn't actually see them disobeying him. However, God is God! Oh, he knew. He probably knew as soon as Adam took the bite of the forbidden fruit. See, like for me, my parents didn't actually see me throw away my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. But, God did see exactly what I did. And, I don't doubt he was really upset because I disobeyed him by lying to my parents. Thank you, God, for your forgiveness.
