Power Series Part 74: Power of the 'T'

Play for the Audio Version

I know that I have written about the subject of today's writing more than once before. You may ask, why then Sam are you revisiting this topic? Well, and to answer that is simple. This is a topic that can definitely use many revisits. Apparently, the Lord still wants me to share some more Deep Thoughts that may be helpful to many readers and definitely myself as well!

Without further delay, the 'T' in the writing is this. 'T' is the first letter of the word tongue. Yep, I really believe there is power in the tongue.  Power can either be negative or positive. The choice is up to you. The tongue can release negative sounds that can be so hurtful, mean and just plain old nasty sounding. Ouch. Right?

Well, I'm thinking that pretty harsh negative sounding words would be that of cussing with the intent of being nothing but derogatory. I definitely agree if you say that initially, you don't necessarily think of it having power. You mean this way thinking about the obvious physical reason it has power.

However, as time goes by the power kicks in. And, the final outcome can either be wonderfully positive, or very upsetting and super negative. Perhaps, full of course and vulgar language.

In closing, when using the t-word, not as its best, perhaps we should not use it. Me making the t-word a little rest break. Remember when you were little and you were given the best advice from the parents. I am talking about this. "If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all." That's some pretty good advice. Pretty good. :-)

Proverbs 18:21 ESV

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

1 Peter 3:10

For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit;

Proverbs 15:1

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Ephesians4:29

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing
