Fellow Christians first let me ask you a question. Who do you like to spend your time with? Like, what I mean is who are you the most happy with? You all know what I mean. There's a group of people that you hang around with I don't know who they are, but you really feel like you can be yourself and you really are the most happy with.
Let me take a stab at it, so to speak. I will say it's the godly people. You all may or may not agree with me. Or, some of you may agree with me but just don't want to listen or take action in what you think is the right thing to do.
I can see that. Of course the more you hang out with godly people, especially the more mature ones that seem to like never sin. Oh yeah, there are some out there who act like Mr. or Ms. Holy. The operative word being "act." I guess just to liven up their ego or make themselves look good. However, we all know that's not true. Remember nobody is perfect.
Now, let me ask the same question to another group of people. To the unbelievers, who do you guys feel the most comfortable hanging around with? I'm thinking of course it's not the godly people. It would be other unbelievers or so-called godly people that are backsliding in their faith. So might as well be called unbelievers, or close to being an unbeliever. Am I right? I think I'm right. Why do I say what I say?
Because godly people will make non-believers feel bad for doing certain things. Just like some "maybe" more mature Christians make other Christians feel bad or feel convicted for doing things they know they shouldn't be doing. Oh, imagine when unbelievers feel bad because Christians see what they're doing. Do y'all see when I'm trying to say?
I'm thinking we Christians don't deliberately want to make other people feel bad for doing things. The holy Spir on the other hand may do some convicting of some hearts. So, no I don't think there is need to blame other people for making their own self feel bad. It's not their fault the person is feeling bad for doing what they're doing. I guess that person "doing bad" would feel more comfortable if other people are joining them in the bad that they are doing. Wow, that felt like a tongue twister. Try saying that five times fast LOL.
Let me go back to speaking to the fellow Christians.GmGuys I think we should spend time with godly people. Of course I'm not saying all of our time. That's just crazy. No, of course you can choose to be friends with the world. However, do not let the world change or infuence you. Maybe we, the fellow Christians should 'try to make disciples of all Nations." Matthew 28: 18- 20.
I guess it is what it is. The majority is always the most well-known popular thing to do. It is where people are more than likely goingto turn to. The majority is what is going to be the push that will make people decide on what they want to do.
20 + years ago when I first became a believer, I remember something. My aunt who led me to Christ gave me a book with the title something not verbatim, but close to this. "Why is God looking for friends?" I can't believe I remember that!
Fellow Christians, if we are not aleady we need to find godly friends who will build us up in our faith and increase our hunger to want to do things that which is spiritual. Not decrease our hunger to want to do spiritual things. We should aim to hang around people who will not drag us down.
What's coming to mind is the story from the Bible of Shadrach,Meshach, and Abednego. The king of the country they lived in King Nebuchadnezzar was so evil. He wanted all the people to bow down and Worship the gold idol he had placed in front of the people. All the people did what they were told to do, except for those 3 men who would only worship their own one true and only God!
Psalm 101
“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers” (NLT). If you want to be a happy person, then don’t hang around ungodly people.
Greg Laurie
Sometimes our circumstances change. But if we are men and women of God, then our circumstances won’t change us.
Daniel 3
