There are times, like yesterday when I too will be doing my writing and then this happens. My mind is focused on the subject at hand. Then one of the words in my writing makes me think of something else.
My husband is watching something interesting on TV. I or maybe others would be trying to get his attention. However, he becomes so into what he's watching, that the rest of the world is shut off from him.
Friends, if you guys haven't gotten it yet, let me tell you. Those three instances each had the word," DISTRACTION or DISTRACTED.
My Deep Thought is this. I'm thinking aren't we glad and super blessed that the Lord God does not get distracted when he is dealing with us? In his word it says, we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. So, no it doesn't say he'll give me strength once he's done dealing with the person who was talking to him before me
That's ridiculous! When we ask him for strength, there's no delay with him helping us. It means this is all on his timetable. So, we don't know when the actual literal strength is going to happen. However, I do know that God will do something so that we will be patient for the literal.
Basically, friends when we choose to begin speaking with God, I believe he will listen. He won't say hold on Sam let me tend to other prayer requests that are before me. Again I repeat that's ridiculous!
That's weird. An example just came to mind. Maybe you are having a really bad fight with your loved ones? The Lord knows that you might end up saying something really bad. So, in order to stop you from saying something pretty bad, maybe your phone rings and the person you are speaking to I don't know maybe an old friend from years ago, and may have some good or bad news on the phone,. Could be anything. All I know is that it distracted your attention away from the fighting.
Let me end with a good distraction. While I was doing my reading this morning, I was hit with the remembrance that I'm supposed to bold or italicize deep thoughts when I use it in the reading? Remember I said I would do that before? Yeah probably forgot. Well, I remembered today!
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Luke 10:38-42
Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Psalm 119:15
I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.
1 Corinthians 7:35
I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.
Matthew 6:24-34
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,
