And, hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and ate lots of Turkey and had fun spending precious time with loved ones! I also would like to give a shout out. Remember I forgot the name of the lady I met a couple days ago at Starbucks? Well it turns out they actually made none of it by sending myself another email. And I totally forgot so I thought.
Found out to Sonya. Thing you around be me my makeup piece from the floor at Starbucks the other day! I pray you will be encouraged by the writings! Have a wonderful day!
Oh yeah. Personally? For me, words o affirmation is actually one of my love languages. So, I would definitely say that words affect me.
If others will say words that will come across as mean? That hurts. If people would say negative things about me? That's discouraging. For example when people keep pushing the envelope, so to speak, and keep using the word can't when it comes to myself trying to do something. Okay yes, that's discouraging to me.
Seriously people? Why say words that will tear others down? Let's stick with only saying words that will pull people up. AKA encourage them!
People's words said to us can either sting quite painfully or make us joyfully smile, maybe because we're being praised for doing something good or being good at doing something.
I'm not saying that people shouldn't lovingly critique or call out other people. No. I welcome constructive criticism. However, be very mindful that when you choose to give that criticism, wher will it be? Will it be done in private between you and the other party?
Please remember guys, before you open your mouth and say anything, ask yourself, " is what I am about to say going to sound nice?" Doctor Emerson Eggerich author of the Love and Respect book said for wives to ask themselves, '
Is what I'm about to say going to sound respectful to my husband?"
I am telling you people, words can either make you or break you. And, take it from me you do not want to hear words that will make you feel broken.
Dear father, thank you Lord 4 bringing us to people you want to be encouraged. Thank you Lord for bringing people 2 us to bring us words of encouragement when you know that we need it. I pray that we would really hear ourselves and ask is what we are about to say gonna be nice? Will those words bring people up or just tear them down? We love you Lord. And, we praise you. In The Name of Jesus and all of God's people say. Amen!
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.
Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he w3who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit
Hawk Nelson: Words
Words are seriously powerful. I think I need to talk closer to the mic...
