Is Love What You Think It Is?

Play for the Audio Version

Before I begin my reading let me say a shout out. Shout out to Jane Morris!
Thank you for accepting my card and I pray that you will be encouraged by the writings! Have a wonderful day!

Due to my fingers having a mind of their own I find it difficult to line things up. Let me explain. When I want to charge my phone on my portable charger, I need to put my phone down on this thick black pad like thing. And, then I have to make sure it is set down correctly so it lines up with the cord for my charger. Kinda difficult to understand I know. I'll take a picture. Once you see what I mean then you'll get it.

Well, anyway the Lord gave me the smartest idea! That was this. I wanted to get some white out and make a little mark so I could line my phone so it could directly be positioned towards the charger.

So, I asked Joe if he could find me some white out here in the condo. I told him my idea. I just said I wanted to make a mark so I know where to charge my phone. I'm not sure he understood what I meant. But that's besides the point.

I really didn't think we had white out.
I don't know. I didn't think we did. And, I was right we didn't. However, I still felt like the Lord was telling me to do something like what I was thinking.

So, this time I told Joe a little bit more what I wanted to do. Then, I asked him to maybe look on the computer table. I still felt like  he would find something I can use so that I can do my little idea.

So, Joe looked on the computer table. And, no surprise he found something. He made a mark on my phone so it will line up with the charger. Guess what he found? He found white nail polish!

I was pleasantly surprised. My thoughts were, "How did....what.... did?! I don't even buy or wear nail polish on my finger nauls anymore! Well, unless of course I am given a gift to get a free manicure . :-)

Then it dawned on me. Then the knock ( holy spirit) came to my heart! Immediately, I thought oh yeah God told me he would provide. And, provide is what he did!

What came to mind is this. Are we aligned with the pattern of God? How do you exactly view define the word love? Let me first tell you how we shouldn't define love. Friends, love is not a feeling. I'm pretty positive people think it is more often than once. However it's really not.

Nope. I really don't think people should look at it like that. Think about it and just realize how much trouble we would be in if we look at love as a feeling. Now think of love as a commitment. I had first heard about love not being looked at as a feeling from my daily bread
Devotional, several years ago.

The thought was reborn in my mind again when I heard it from Pastor Mark Jobe's sermon on Moody Radio the other day. It was very interesting and grabbed my attention during our 40 minute long drive to church.

I'm a wife and I love my husband.
I made a commitment to be faithful to my husband. I'm sure there are feelings of love for him. I can't go around that. I am human.

Let's look at parents. I'm not a parent. However, if I was a parent I would love my kids and I would love them enough to remember that I made a commitment to raise them up well. That means I will choose to love them enough that I would be able to tell them no. I would say no, if I knew that saying yes would be a mistake. I would love them enough to discipline them because I chose to say no.

According to Rick Warren

(Deuteronomy 30:20)

Love doesn't just happen to you. Love is a choice, and it represents commitment. You must choose to love God. He won't force you to love him
