Finding Hope In Jesus

Play For The Audio Version

Thanksgiving of 2020 is over. Black Friday of 2020 is over. These 2 special days were definitely not how they usually play out. Because of well, this time of COVID.

No big family gatherings on Thanksgiving. All because people's need to make sure they follow social distancing guidelines. If they wanted to see another Thanksgiving that is.
So now what? Well, since Thanksgiving is done? That means Christmas is almost here. Do we people like Christmas?

Maybe a better question would be this. Do we people like Christmas this year? The majority of people's answers would all be different. I am thinking that most people's answers would probably be no.

You know because of our pandemic. We need to remember that we can find hope in Jesus. Pastor Greg Laurie had a great acronym for H.O.P.E. Holding On With Patient Expectation.

What comes to mind is the Bible character, Job. His life story is so encouraging. Talk about faith! This man had faith! One day the evil one was roaming the earth looking for someone to devour. God told him, "Have you ever considered my servant Job? You could do whatever you wanted to Him." He just couldn't take his life.

Job was a rich man. Job had many children. Job lived in the land of Uz. He was blameless—a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil.

He had seven sons and three daughters. He owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 teams of oxen, and 500 female donkeys. He also had many servants. He was in fact, the richest person in that entire area. Job 1:1‭-‬3

Satan totally messed Job's life up. He totally damaged the body of Job with boils and stuff. Job lost his own children. His wife even told him to just curse God and die! The Bible tells us that despite all the crap he had to go through, Job “arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped” (Job 1:20 NKJV).

Job still had hope. Later he said, “For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and 1 that its tender shoots will not cease” (Job 14:7 NKJV).
