I get it. Logically speaking, it's like why should we even be thankful? The answer we get isn't even what we wanted. It's not even helpful! Well, let me share some Deep Thoughts.
Friends, whatever was the answer that God allowed? That always deserves a thank you. Why is that Sam? Well, 1st of all let me say that I didn't always think like that. Meaning, I probably was like some of you guys.
Yup, I know! It is starting to sound like it's getting to be too much. Then again, one shouldn't ever think prayer to Jesus is ever too much. Nope prayer is always welcome. It can never be too much!
Let me end with another additional Deep Thought. I think this is very important when it comes to any prayer to Jesus. That is making sure that somewhere in your prayers you are putting the ball in God's court. So, to speak.
Basically, letting Jesus know that, whatever the result? We should say somewhere in our prayer that we want God's will to be done!
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

1 Peter 2:15 ESV / 2,221 heor this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.
