In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered. (Acts 9:10 NIV)
The above verse is an excerpt from Acts 9:10 leading up to the conversion of Saul. If you are not familiar with this Bible story, let me give a mini glimpse and point out a couple things I believe were truly significant. There was a Jewish religious leader named Saul, who hated Christians to the point of actually having them killed. Then, we have Ananias, who is a believer/Christian. One day the Lord spoke to Saul, and asked, " Saul, Saul why do you persecute me?" Verses later Saul was blind for three days and did not eat anything.
At this time, the Lord called on the disciple named Ananias and basically told him to go to Saul. I really recommend reading the story for more detail. It's a pretty cool story. And, I believe I'm not mentioning other significant parts to the story.
Do you sort of feel bad for Ananias, a defenseless common and regular man whose only crime was his stand for being a believer in Christ? Well, God called him and told him to go and see Saul. God was detailed too with precisely how to get to Saul and gave him directions of what to do when he got to Saul.
Do you ever find yourself in situations where you feel like God is speaking to your heart and telling you to do something? But, due to a variation of hindrances that you are afraid of you find yourself really saying no to God? Let's be honest with ourselves. I know I've said no to God a time or more. Believe me, I am working on being more obedient to God, hence I'm still a work in progress.
I think the bottom line is if the Lord is calling you to do something we must believe and have faith that He will give us all the strength we need to do it. God has a reason for it. If the Lord prevents us from doing something we just really want to do, we must believe and have the faith that our
activity is not pulling through because God has a reason for it. That reason just may be enough of a reason to save your life or prevent anything bad from happening to you. I guarantee if you change your mind thought to think more positive, it will really be helpful. Believe me in the end you'll be thanking God!
