Matthew 19:24 NIV
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
Okay, first of all I believe this first isn't necessarily saying that everyone who is rich will not be able to enter the kingdom of God. I do take from this verse that there are the Select people who love and adore money too much that they totally put there love for God as a mere second, even though we know that God should be the one and only first, we should aim to please.
You know why I decided to write about this topic? It's quite interesting actually. It all started with my fantasy football league and my number one keeper runningback from the Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson, and my friend, BK. Let me elaborate a tad more. AP was charged yesterday for beating his child. I am guessing your first thoughts consists of extreme sympathy for the child correct? Well yes this breaking news was a bit of shock to most I gather.
Those of you who have Facebook know that when you go to a person's page, there is a status section where we are to state what is on our minds. I put on there, " Why does it seem like some of our star athletes are just going crazy? :( " My friend BK commented as reply to that post, "Too much money."
How sad right? I think God really knew what he was talking about when he made that analogy mentioned above huh? BK's comment reminded me of that verse and made me think a little. I guess it really is hard for the rich people to enter the kingdom of God because the money truly does get in the way. That is really pretty sad. I do know a handful of people who think the more money you have the better life you'll have. These people are purchasing lottery tickets hoping to win the jackpot so they can splurge on their hearts desires. They are striving to get the newest and best vehicles. The most popular technology is is on everyone's must have list. There's competition for first prize going to the people who own the most glorious and well built homes. I can go on and on. Sometimes I really just want to shake people's head grab their attention and make them realize that it really doesn't matter! What really matters is what you will have after you leave this life. You really can't take anything with you after you die so shouldn't that make people think? Friends, what matters is what you will have after you leave this life. In previous blog writings, I have stated where I stand and where I pray others hearts will be touched to the point of receiving the gift eternal life in paradise. But, I can't force others decisions. I can just love them. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. (John 15: 12 NIV)
