Discerning What Is False Part 2: Lucky Charms?

This is the last of my writing for the series.  Told you it was little! Tomorrow, I plan to share thoughts and experiences from a friend regarding this topic. The person actually has the gift of discernment.  Can't wait, this should be really interesting!   Keep reading!

I hate the magic charms they use to trick people into believing their lies. I will rip those charms from their wrists and set free the people they have trapped like birds. (Ezekiel 13:20, CEVDCUS06)

Wow, well as soon as I read this, first of all keep in mind I am not bashing on other religions but I am merely stating what I see.  With that said, after reading this Chapter I immediately thought well, isn't a scapular similar to a magic charm? If you think about it, the scapular is worn to keep bad things away, make xyz happen, etc. I am not really educated on all the reasons scapulars are worn.  But, I do know people wear them because they believe wearing the scapular will protect them from something. I have also seen it worn as a way to give thanks to God, so they think. I see the "lucky charm"  never usually worn, but when the person has to undergo surgery or has some difficult challenge, one wears it.  Once, the challenge has been overcome or the surgery was successful,  they stop wearing it until next time.  If you think about it, wearing the scapular is kind of predicting the future, thinking that wearing that "magic charm" is so powerful I think.  The Lord clearly says in His word that those people will not get away with telling lies. Wow, I repeat I never really thought of how much power some people think is in that charm. And, GOD HATES IT! Remember that!

  1. The scapular is also worn by a deceased person to gain entrance to heaven without having to repent of his sins and be reconciled to God. This is clearly not Scriptural as we are only saved through the blood of Christ, not His scapular.
