It's not easy folks. And, maybe or maybe you do not understand what I am vehemently trying to point out. So, if it is simple for you to just forget, then good for you! Those of you who do have difficulty this writing is for us and hope it really helps the both of us.
Let's dive in! Ok, when someone or something wrongs us in some way, hurts us, or just negatively affects us somehow, what do you do? Well, first off let's talk about what we shouldn't do. First of all, we shouldn't hold in our feelings of hurt. Don't misunderstand because the bible does say hold in your anger but I don't think you should hold in your feelings of hurt. I know it's difficult, but that is my thought. We really should not keep bad feelings hidden. I'm not going to say I always follow that thought. But, that is your decision. Similar to the writing I had on anger, we musn't hold in our feelings. We may have a smile on our faces when we see the other person. However, I would make a huge guess that hearts would not be smiling. Another thing we should not do and totally remove from our minds if we are thinking about it is to have revenge. God definitely does not want that. Remember He wants us to love one another. I do not think God wants us to run around in a crazy cycle of constantly hurting one another as a pay back and not offering forgiveness.
Here's what I think we should do. I think we should give it to God. I mean, we need to give ALL our feelings to God and let Him have them because that's what he says! I think we should ask God to remove the pain and bitterness we may be harboring and to soften our hearts and truly have a forgiving heart.
I know, believe me I know what I am saying and recommending is some difficult stuff one probably chooses not to entertain. But, all I can say is it may work or it may not, It may help or it may not. How would you know, if you do not try it right? Honestly, for me it worked temporarily. But, I truly think that only God's timing will truly help make forgiveness a reality. I think it's possible to forgive if God is the one who now has your pain. Easier said than done I know. But, why not try it? I think you will feel a lot better. What do you have to lose?
-Forgiveness is important because God forgave us. We owe him at least that.
Ephesians 4:32
-God will give us strength at this time.
Philippians 4:6-7
-It is better to vent when we are calm and collected and ready to talk.
