May 23, 2009 was a beautiful day. It was my wedding day. I really wanted my ceremony outside and my reception indoors. So God had lead us to a gorgeous gazebo outdoors to have the ceremony and we also had the reception indoors at the same venue as well. All week the weather people were forecasting rain on the wedding day! Oh no! Joe and I prayed everyday for no rain, and usually after we prayed I felt better. But there was always that doubt rearing its ugly head at times before the wedding. Preparing for a wedding is stressful in and of itself, but if I didn’t ask God to take away my doubts and prayed for more faith that it would not rain that day, I most likely would have gone insane with worry. Well, the morning of the big day came and I chose not to watch the weather reports. I remember feeling so much joy and confidence that my powerful and good God was totally capable of holding the rain if He so chose. About the middle of the day my family and friends told me it was forecasted to rain and it did start to drizzle, but that’s as far as it went. The evil one was probably trying to get my spirits down, but he failed. Again, I felt joy. I remember telling God that I believed it wasn’t going to rain during the wedding.
At 3:00 pm the sky cleared and by the time we got to the gazebo the weather was absolutely beautiful! It wasn’t too hot—just comfortable. The sun was brightly shining on the bride, groom and guests. God even decorated the sky with a rainbow during the ceremony! Following the wedding ceremony, while everyone was indoors, the rain poured! God knew that I would end up having an inch of doubt that it was going to rain. The evil one tried his best to hinder and taunt my spirit. The end result was I prayed for more trust and faith, God answered, and I had a beautiful wedding day and I honestly believe The Lord may have had a chuckle when he poured the rain down in the evening when everyone were dancing, laughing, having fun and most of all not getting wet! Doesn't our God have such a sense of humor?! :)
Hebrews 13:6
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
