We Need Church Series: Part 2: The Word of God

As previously mentioned, before I got saved and knew Jesus Christ as my personal savior, I really never thought that reading and knowing God's word in the bible was necessary. But, wow after I got  saved I discovered that reading the word of God and studying it and really knowing it is truly what we all really need to be able to live life.

I really believe we all need church, so we can better understand the bible if we want to. Why do we need to go to church to hear the word of God? My thinking is why do I have a pastor?  See, I really believe that God blesses everyone with certain spiritual gifts that we need to use for the encouragement of others. When I go to my church and listen to my pastor preach the sermon,  I am listening to what God has spoken to his heart. See what I mean? It's like my pastor is relaying a message from God to my ears. I think I am a smart woman as far as reading the Bible and using common sense as you guys are I assume? But, there are hidden meanings and underlying messages in the Bible that I miss from reading on my own.  Or, maybe my pastor has a story of a real life experience that can be correlated with a scripture reading  to make me comprehend it a little bit more.

Reading the bible with other people can be enjoyable and helpful to others too! Having bible studies like small groups are also what we could find in a church.  Bible studies and small groups develop and are born in the church. Attending those are other ways God has provided us to get in the Word and better comprehend the word of God . I don't know what you think, but reading the bible by yourself can get boring. Sometimes, I'm reading the Bible and I suddenly have questions that could be answered by a group of friends that will have different perspectives.

Basically, what I am really trying to get embedded in your mind is the importance of reading the word of God. Remember His words can encourage you, bring you words of wisdom for help, and maybe even advise you when you are in trouble. Friends, if you haven't tried reading the word of God I suggest you try it and see maybe he will really comfort you by bringing you to a passage you really needed to hear?
