We Need Church Series: Part 4 : Encouragement

Don't we all need that!?  To be encouraged because we just feel...down..discouraged....just for lack of a better word, crappy? I'm not saying you only can get encouragement from going to church, because that would not be true.  However, I will say that your brothers and sisters in that church if they are true believers, they know or should know what God says in the bible what he wants his children to do. And, one thing he says is to encourage others.

I am blessed that I am a member of a church that encourages me! When my husband and I have not gone to church in awhile, maybe because we are on vacation or something, people notice and will give us a call or text to see how we are doing.  Or, on the flip side,maybe my husband and I are in need of prayer for a really ill family member or friend. Our church family is always ready to pray, or sometimes my church family may even visit the ill person and pray with and for them.

There's a lady at my church who goes out of her way every month and really encourages people! In the beginning of each month the congregation gets a piece of paper with all the birthdays of the month. Most people, myself included don't really take the time to read through or acknowledge the birthdays.  The paper probably just ends up in the garbage.  But, this lady goes out of her way and sends a birthday card to each person who has a birthday! Friends, that's encouragement and is so encouraging to me! I really hope that if you don't already, maybe you should try and find a church you feel God is leading you to because God wants you to be encouraged and he has people prepared to do the encouraging!

1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:

Ephesians 4:29 ESV

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
