Here's something different that is kinda the opposite. I'm talking about accepting forgiveness and not being the person giving forgiveness. Don't we immediately think giving forgiveness is what is difficult. Especially, when we are really mad and hurt right? Well, today I'm going to target the importance of accepting forgiveness.
Firtst of all, I am certainly not making any comparison between us and God's forgiveness, but his example to us of showing forgiveness is pretty awesome right? Ok, if I do something wrong to someone, boy do I feel pretty horrible. And, should the other person show forgiveness, one wouldn't think so, right? But, God says in his word for his children to forgive as I have forgiven you. Well, then I may feel pretty bad as I should but, I am human and messing up in someway is inevitable. All, I could do is,apologize and express my remorse and try not to repeat the mistake again.
When people follow Gods words as what to do when we sin, all the other person can do is follow what God says about forgiveness. To the one accepting forgiveness: friend just accept it and know the other person is following God's word and the strength he or she has to forgive you is coming straight from God. You better believe that forgiving you was probably the most difficult thing for them to do in a long time. Don't beat yourself up too bad, once you have been forgiven. And, try and pray to not repeat the mistake.
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, (Matthew 6:14 ESV)
