Automatic Response

When I used to drive a lot during my pre MS days, I had an automatic routine when I got in the car, probably like most of you. I would first sit in the driver's seat, fasten my seatbelt, turn the key in the ignition, check to see if my mirrors were good, look behind me to see if I would hit anyone or anything, and then maybe turn on my radio. After all that I was all good to drive off.

You see how it was just an automatic response and routine for me knowing I needed to do all those things before I was ready to drive off? I think prayer should be an automatic response when you're suddenly struck with having an immediate need or seriously need help with something. I will give you an example. When the doctors told me I was diagnosed with MS, prayer was the last thing on my mind, but it should've been the first thing right? It's difficult to be mindful of prayer sometimes.

I'll give you another example. Maybe,  someone told you something that really made you extremely furious. Is the first thing you do pray? I guarantee you that I probably will either yell, scream, swear, or possibly cry, but not pray.  When I think about it more, praying to God, asking to calm my heart to have serenity, wisdom, strength and faith to lean on Him for more understanding probably should have been the first thing I did and should always do.  But, for me remembering to pray first is definitely something I need to always remember and is a work in progress. Well, I hope this is a good reminder for you to pray! It sure was a good reminder for me. :-)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ NIV)
