God's Promises!

I think you all probably have an inkling of where this writing will be stemming from right? Where else do we read of God's promises but the bible right? Now, my goal is to certainly not put judgment on whether you read your bible or not. So, please don't think I am just writing this to make you feel bad if you don't read. That is definitely not what I am doing.  I am just offering some deep thoughts and again it is your prerogative if you would like to read about them. So, as my pastor always says, let's dive in!

Let's stop and think for a second: have you ever read the Bible? Do you think you should read the Bible? When I was growing up before personally knowing Christ I think I owned a Bible. But I know I never read it as much as I do now! I am going to use my husband as an example because his testimony was such an encouragement to me and hope it will be to you guys as well. When Joe first came to know the Lord in 2001, he had this hunger for the word of God that he read the whole Bible in six months. He said that he just wanted to know more. At the time I didn't even read the whole Bible yet, so you can imagine how encouraged I was.

Friends, the first thing we need to do is accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. After that, watch your heart, change, and develop this hunger for the Word of God. When we read the Bible, we read about the promises of God. We read how we are to obey God. We read about the future how we can prepare our hearts to spend eternity with Christ after we die. We read stories about people in the past and how their circumstances and experiences are a teachings to our lives.

Friends, there are some stuff in the readings in the Bible that will make you happy, sad, maybe a bit frightened? I really don't know. I can just share with you what I read in the Bible and it's up to you if you want to believe what I say. The Bible is like food to my soul.  If you decide to read the Bible, and soften and open your heart to understand it's teachings just ask the Lord to speak to your heart and he will!

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Psalm 119:105 ESV

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Matthew 4:4 ESV

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Be encouraged by this we were!
