Not My Will

I remember so many years ago when my mind was open to choosing whether or not I wanted to know Christ and invite Him in my life or not, I did. And then I thought cool whatever I asked God for now would happen, as long as I was good ofcourse. If I wasn't a good young girl, and I wanted my need to happen, then it was time for some hard core praying.

Wow, after I gave my life to Christ, I started reading my bible and meeting more mature Christians that really were my mentors. According to the bible, my thinking of the whole process of prayer and it's results was pretty skewed and incorrect. First of all, I agree with the fact that we humans, yes can only choose God when when our minds are alert and able to decipher right and wrong. No one can choose that for us. I don't like peas and no one can use my taste buds to get the flavor right? Kind of the same as choosing God. No one else but me can feel what's in my heart. You know what I mean? I have heard of people who came to know Christ at such a young age, but not as an infant when their minds are still closed and in the development stage. Thinking all I wanted to happen would happen based on my doing and attitude was definitely not true. I believe we should certainly pray but we should always pray with my title as the starting, middle, or ending in our prayers.

When I first came to know Christ as my Lord and Savior at age 15. I was still pretty blinded by how answers to prayers panned out. I remember 2 of my Aunts always reminding me that no matter what I prayed for, I needed to always include in my prayers, may the Lord's will be done. See, true God already knows what we will ask before we say anything, but he still wants to hear us ask. And, I think we need to be ok with whatever God decides to do. Because, remember God always gives us the strength to handle whatever he let's come our way. God always knows what's best for us!

For years, I have been praying for healing. But, quantity doesn't make our prayers stand out more to God or does the answer to our prayers even get affected. Friends, God already knows how he will answer our prayers. When we pray, we just have to let him know that the ball is in His court, so to speak, and our ultimate desire is for His will to be done!

Philippians 4:6-7 ESV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
