It was so weird. I was reading my Bible devotion this morning and it was about the story of the prodigal son. Pastor Greg's thoughts on it is to not ever giving up on your children. Then, I felt like there's somebody out there who reads my blog who is struggling with this topic. Don't get me wrong, I'm not declaring myself some kind of spiritual magician. No. However, I am a child of God. And if somebody needs help and is asking God for help, then I believe that he will send help. I believe that he will speak to his children's hearts in order to provide the help that is needed.
Maybe, you are a parent right now with a child that just seems to always get in trouble. Maybe you have a child that almost never is obedient. Maybe, you have a child who just seems to always fall into doing things that seem unforgivable. Maybe, you have a child that just seems to never show that he or she loves their parents.
What is a parent to do? Folks, well I'm not a parent with a child here on Earth. I have one that went up to heaven. And, my husband and I know that he is in heaven now with Jesus! We don't know why he was taken so soon but we can rejoice because he's with Jesus and he's away from this Fallen World. And we know that we will see him again!
So, you have a child who does nothing but disobey you. So, you have a child that it seems to only do the Unforgivable. So, you have a child that always seems to get into trouble. So you have a child who just seems to not show any love or even say that they love you.
I will say it again. What is a parent to do? Like I said, I never experienced that with my son because he went directly to heaven. But, I will say to those parents with those types of children, that even though your kids fail in showing you love, parents, that doesn't mean that you have to stop showing THEM love.
I am amazed when I see believing parents welcome them and treat them with so much love and care despite the horrible things they have done. Seriously, that really encourages me when the child returns back to them. You see what I'm saying? Folks, it was the will and power of God that can bring your disobedient child home. These parents had so much faith that the Lord would bring them home. Friends, if these children are gone from your life, I'm sure the parents would be praying that they would be reunited mentally and physically again. I mean, friends, think about it. Why would a child want to return home to their parents who would be furious with them because of the wrong that they chose to do. They probably won't. Parents, it's up to you to extend the same grace that our heavenly father extended to us. Please don't give up on your children. Ever!
I want to share what Greg Laurie said in his devotion this morning. He said,
"Your children can escape your presence but they can never Escape prayer."Here is a link to the story of the Prodigal Son.
