Okay, I'm going to start my writing this morning by saying you are not perfect. I am not perfect. We humans are not perfect. So, we really need to stop saying that we are incapable of doing something. Are you like that?
Let me throw a familiar scenario out there for you. What about happily married couples? I'm sure there are spouses out there who are so devoted to their loved ones. They tell one another they will never ever ever fall astray from their loved one. And, in their minds that may be what they want to be the truth. And, that mindset maybe what will go on for a number of years.
However, think about it again. I'm going to say you are not perfect. I think just the high divorce rate speaks for itself. I remember one time speaking with one of my disability drivers. I forgot the woman's name. But, for some reason the Lord was telling my heart to speak with this woman and just see how her marital status was. She told me she was divorced. Her ex-husband cheated on her.
Or, here's another example. What would you do if you really needed money and you had the opportunity to steal a large sum of cash with the assurance of not getting caught? Maybe, your answer would be I would definitely not take part in stealing. Friends, you can say that but you just never know unless you're actually in the act and are desperate.
Remember the story of Peter in the Bible? Jesus said that Peter was going to deny him three times before a rooster crowed. I didn't know that the time span of those three times was like an hour apart. I agree with Pastor Greg when he said if he was Peter he would try not to get anywhere near where a rooster would be. LOL
Peter said he would never deny the Lord. What did he do? Friends, I repeat we are not perfect. We are going to mess up. We are going to end up falling into sin. Sadly to say, we may end up hurting someone. I think we really need to stop thinking we will never do something that we taught ourselves to never do. Because, only God will help us to not do mistakes for the first time or to not repeat mistakes. In Peter's case, not to repeat it a third time. We really need to pray but God will give us the Grace and Supernatural power that only he can give to not sin.
Encouraging thought of the day:
Just think your favorite television show is coming on tonight! Or, maybe if you're a sports fan baseball is back!
Luke 22:54-62English Standard Version (ESV)
Peter Denies Jesus
54 Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house, and Peter was following at a distance. 55 And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. 56 Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58 And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” 59 And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
