I would say the majority of the time when it comes to putting on shoes so that I can leave for the day or putting back on shoes in the car so I can go back home, I need help. There are times I seriously surprised myself because my foot just slips in my shoe. I actually had enough strength to able to push my foot in! Oh, the things in life that makes me happy. :-)
I really do not like it when I have to inconvenience my husband to try and help me, especially when my foot is being very stubborn. He tells me the obvious solution to the problem is to fix it and get velcro shoes.
Would I be able to purchase them and maybe find the money? Probably if I look hard enough. Gosh, that would solve a lot of our problems. I would be able to put my shoes on in a timely manner. There would be no risk of frustrating either me or Joe or anyone helping me.
So there is no question about it right? Problem solved! I'm getting velcro shoes! Right?
Well? When the thought of getting velcro shoes came to my attention, The knock to my head also came to my attention. Immediately, I felt, did I even pray about this? I felt if I do take the easy way out and basically trying to fix the problem myself, am I still going to talk to God and ask for help putting on my shoes!
Talk about convicted?! I'm not saying it's wrong to try to fix the problem and get the velcro shoes. However, I am saying, what is your heart telling you? What is my heart telling me? Should I try hard to locate those velcro shoes and maybe God wants me to speak to him or with something else not necessarily putting on shoes. I have no idea what my heart is telling me. You know why? Because I have not prayed about it.
I do that a lot. I do things "on the fly." I guess you can consider me a spontaneous lady. And more than often, being told that that's not necessarily a good thing. "What is your plan?" Seems to always be the question that, oftentimes, I won't be able to answer. I think with big things like velcro shoes, we should pray about it first?
Me and my husband we have a need that we put off to the side but would like to revisit again. I mentioned to my husband that I feel in my heart the Lord would like us to revisit the situation again. Joe has told me not "no" right away not "yes" right away. However he said he needs to pray about it as well. Just like God spoke to my heart, my husband is waiting for God to speak to his heart.
As a side note, I was thinking of maybe a little motorized Walker. At times, it's a challenge for me to get to the bathroom. It's a challenge for me to get my Walker back near the couch so I can safely sit down again. That, my friends, is something we need to pray for. Moral of this writing is before you do or purchase anything that is pretty big physically and mentally, pray about it first.
Before you choose to visit any scenario, pray about it first. Folks, before you get introduced to the manual fix to your problem, pray about it first. Friends, before you say yes or no to anything, pray about it first.
Encouraging thought of the day:
What are you deciding to do? Have you prayed about it first?
John 10:27-28 ESV
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Romans 10:17 ESV
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Philippians 4:6 ESV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
