It Pleased the Lord to Bruise Him

Isaiah 53:10 King James Bible
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

That sentence makes the Lord look pretty bad. Doesn't it? I do have to mention that it is only in the KJV that it says it like that.  All the other versions say something like it is God's will.

Now, let's dig into this a little bit more. Well, honestly, to say something like it pleases you or me to know someone got hurt sounds like some satanic thoughts.  When Jesus was going to become crucified, I'm sure Satan was around him trying to tempt him to do otherwise. Satan didn't want him to die for our sins! Jesus had a choice. Satan definitely did not want Jesus to die for us. However, that is what Jesus chose to do. And, we should all be thankful that that is what he chose.

Of course, I don't think that was his first choice and I'm sure he had plenty of doubts and did not want to go through with the whole suffering and dying part. But, what we need to understand is that he did choose to go through all of that painful stuff. Why? Well, because he loves you and me. How do we know that? Well for one because the Bible tells us so.

God the Father was so pleased that his son chose to die for us. The will of God was for Jesus to be crucified and die on the cross and to carry all of our burdens on that cross.  Jesus was to take all of the sins of everyone in the world. Jesus chose to follow the will of his father. That pleased the Lord tremendously.  The question is, what are you going to do about it?

Luke 22:42 ESV

Saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
1 Peter 2:24 ESV

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
