Anyways, okay let's start the writing for the day! I give this title my writing "Your Story." If you think about it, really everyone has their own story about themselves. And really the important part of your story that you have is to share how you came to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And if you don't know Jesus as your personal Lord and savior, then I suggest find someone who does and ask them to share their story of how that came to be.
Today, I'm going to share a little bit about my own personal story of how I came to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In my early childhood years, I was raised Catholic. I thank my parents for doing that because through classes every now and then because of CCD, I kind of was introduced to the name of Jesus Christ. So, I had a good upbringing.
Then around the age of 15, one of my aunties who is a born again Christian spoke to me and shared about her personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I remember being like, "I know about Jesus auntie, you don't have to talk to me about him!!" However, later, I was slowly figuring out that she did have to talk to me. I was lost. I was going to hell because I didn't know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior!
What do I mean by that? Well I knew a little about Jesus. But he wasn't my personal Lord and savior. What I needed to know, and what my aunt was trying to tell me was that Jesus Christ was my friend! Meaning, he is more than whatever the priest was telling me in Sunday morning. I had to dig and dig and know more about Jesus by reading his word. My aunt gave me a Bible which is the best gift anyone could have ever given me. Again, I was lost and that made me find him!
I read his words and I spoke to him through prayer. And he spoke back to me through his words in the Bible. It's still encouraging to me to think of when my husband first became a born-again, Christian he actually read the Bible in 6 months. It took me longer than that but I got there eventually. My husband was just so interested and had such a quench of hunger for the word of God!
Friends, we don't want to go to hell. Who wants that? We don't have to go to hell. Understand that you can be assured of your salvation. 1 John 5 11-12 says, "and this is the testimony God has given us eternal life and this life is in his son. He who has the son has life. He who does not have the Son of God does not have life." That's it. Do you want to go to heaven? Then accept Jesus as your personal Lord and savior.
Here's the right equation. I followed the wrong question for years. Now here's the right equation:
Faith = Salvation + Good deeds
Do you believe that? Well, I hope all of you guys appreciate me sharing my story of how I came to personally know Jesus Christ. He is beyond awesome that I pray all of you guys come to know him!
You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.
Ephesians 2:8 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Luke 8:39 ESV
“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.
