If you don't know the story, I'll tell you. Then, maybe later on you can look at it for yourselves. Sarah was married to Abraham and she gave her maidservant to Abraham and told him to lay with her AKA have sex with her so that Hagar, the name of the maid servant, would have his child.
Sarah wanted the bloodline of Abraham to continue. Do you guys see so many things wrong with what she decided to do? I do. The way I see it is Sarah forgot who was in control. Sarah forgot that God is capable of making possible what is considered impossible in the human realm. I repeat, Sarah forgot what God is really about!
If you would read the following chapters, you read that in Sarah's old age, I think it was 99, she was pregnant and gave birth to a little boy and named him Isaac. With God, anything is possible!
Let's fast forward to today's times. I know of a couple who were pretty much told by the doctors the wife would not be able to bear a child. So, from what I've seen, they went down the years and enjoyed their life is a married couple. Until, one day when the wife was in her late forties and the husband was in his fifties, them and probably all their loved ones, friends, acquaintances, and probably strangers we're shocked out of their boots! The wife was pregnant. She carried their baby to full term and he ended up to be a healthy, and adorable baby boy. That my friends totally and ultimately gives meaning to "With God Anything is Possible!"
Is that encouraging to you? Are you a married woman who was told by the doctors she would not be able to bear children? I don't know and I'm not telling you that God is going to bless you and you are going to be pregnant eventually, no. Well, he might do that, he can do that but he doesn't have to. That's all I'm saying. But, it should be so encouraging to know that he can do that if he wills it.
Now Sarai was barren; she had no child.
Genesis 18:14 ESV
Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”
Hebrews 11:11 ESV
By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
