Her Smile? Our Smile!

Do you guys like to smile? Speaking of smiles, most, if not every one, knows about Leonardo da Vinci's painting of the Mona Lisa. When you think about it and you look at her face do you think she's smiling as she held her pose?  I'm kind of on the fence on that one. Meaning, I'm thinking it's more a somewhat timid grin. "Is it a smile?" is part of the mystery or intrigue of the painting.

What about the Bible and what does it say about smiling? That's an interesting question right? Well, I read in the daily bread this morning this,
"In reality, the word appears less than five times in Scripture, and never as something we are told to do.  However, the Bible does suggest for us an attitude that leads to smiles—and that is the word joy.  Nearly 250 times we read about joy." (DB)
So, I guess what we really need to think from this writing is this. It should be pretty crystal clear for us to see, keep in our hearts, adore, and be thankful for all the Lord has done for us in the past, is doing for us in the present and will do for us in the future. That my friends, should definitely be an extreme cause for all of us to have a smile on our faces!

Proverbs 15:13-14 ESV

A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed. The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.

Proverbs 17:22 ESV

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Psalm 34:5 ESV

Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.
