So, last night my husband and I read the story of Jacob and Esau for our One Year Bible reading. Let me ask you something. Is there anyone of you religious right now that are kind of fearing something? Perhaps you know you did something wrong and no one physically saw what you did except for, of course, you know who and, whatever it is that you did is eating you up so much right now. You feel like you really need to let it out so you can go on living your normal life. Or, can you?
I don't know about you guys, but when I personally know I did something wrong and I keep it within myself; harboring so much guilt within myself is, well, first of all, probably far from being healthy! Can you imagine or maybe you're in the situation now? If so, however do you do it? I mean, you must be an award-winning actor then if you can hide guilt and frustration on your face.
In the story we read last night, we read the story of Jacob, the brother of Esau, the firstborn of Isaac and Rebekah. Remember Isaac was Sarah and Abrahams's miraculous son? Anyway Jacob their son was pretty devious. Basically, what Jacob did was this. He had stolen the birthright and the blessings that was supposed to be given to Esau.
Oh pause break. I just saw this nice man that I met before and gave the card to and I asked him if he can get me some hot water and I also asked if I can give him another card for his wife. Hey, Chris, it was nice to see you again and thanks for the hot water. Theresa, I hope to see you here one day too and I pray you will be encouraged by the writings!
As I was saying, Jacob was a bad boy! Seriously though, Jacob stole the birthright and the blessing of his brother Esau. I suggest you read this story. Maybe I'll add it at the end of my reading if I don't forget. :-)
Was Jacob sorry for doing what he did to his bro? I'm not sure I wasn't there but I would say maybe a little? Jacob did something wrong that affected his brother. I would think Jacob had a little fear in him. Maybe he was sleeping with one eye open at night. I don't know.
Did you guys plan on reading the whole story about Jacob's life, you will see that there was a good result. Basically, it was a happy ending. It took time but that was God's time. Jacob believes in God and Jacob had faith in God that God would help him. And within time, God helped him. God had many blessings in store for his future!
Now my question to you, again, is are you fearing anything? If you're scared, have you tried giving it to God? I don't know how else to say it. It's in the Bible. He wants all your worries. He wants all your anxiety. He wants you to cast your cares on him.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
Galatians 2:20 ESV
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
