Genesis Series Part 13: Full Potential/Lazy Guy

I guess there are a few perks that a disabled person would be entitled to. Like for me, I don't drive anymore. And, aside from getting from place to place by the help of my husband, I'm entitled to this.

Probably about 3 or 4, I forget, years after my diagnosis of MS, I had stopped driving.  I shortly found out about a service from pace called Paratransit. I began to do a little bit more research and this is what I found out. Paratransit was a service for those who are disabled who didn't drive anymore. I had to go for an interview. And if I passed, I was approved for the service.

One day, some years ago, I was in the van sitting with another passenger who was disabled. I was in my wheelchair and he was in his wheelchair. I mentioned to him that I had MS that was why I was in the wheelchair. Then I asked him what was his story? He said,"Oh I'm just lazy." Inside I was thinking "What!?" Seriously? If I didn't have MS or any kind of disability, you better believe I wouldn't use my wheelchair! I was at the same time weirded out and feeling pretty disgusted! Of course, I used my acting skills and was still a nice person being civil with this man. But, I wanted to just get to my destination as soon as we could!

Why am I sharing this story? Well, last night for our one year Bible devotion me and my husband read this. God wants us to live to our full potential. He does not want us to be lazy. If we don't challenge ourselves with things we humans don't think we can do, then how are we going to get help from God?

Perfect example. Earlier this morning my husband left for work and my caregiver didn't come yet because it was still early. I had some personal business to attend to. So, I did my business and I'm not going to say that it wasn't a challenge and it wasn't difficult for me to sit back on the couch. However, God helped me! Thank God. We also have to understand and be okay and still have the faith when God chooses not to help us the way we want him to! Just know that in his perfect timing he will!

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
