Genesis Series Part 4: Am I My Brother's Keeper?

When my husband and I read our One Year Bible last week, we came across something very interesting. I'm assuming most of you did not know that that phrase of my title was the first question a human had asked in the Bible. I know right!? We didn't know either!

Do you know who said it? It was in the story of Cain and Abel. The Lord looked with favor on Abel's offering but he did not look with favor on Cain's offering. Jealousy. Cain was jealous of his brother Abel. So, what did Cain do? He killed him.

I recently heard a story that a friend shared with me. My friend and this man were no longer an item. They were still in good relations. Basically, the father of her first child was in another relationship and the girlfriend's ex-boyfriend or current boyfriend I forgot, one day at 4 in the morning, he went to the house, rang the doorbell, and as soon as the other man opened the door he was shot repeatedly until he was dead. The man who shot him was and still is in jail paying for this crime.

Friends, do you see what jealousy can do? Perhaps, you carry that type of jealousy in your heart? Would you kill someone because you are just so jealous? Perhaps, you know someone who's like that but you're not like that.

I don't think jealousy is a sin. I do think it's just what one may feel because they're human. The sin can come after what one chooses to do as a result of being jealous.

TBC.............................

Did you know God gets jealous too?

Encouraging thought of the day!
You are beautiful!
