Genesis Series Part 43: If That Happened To You What Would You Do?
Good morning and happy Sunday! Before I get into my writing I want to give a shout-out to this young lady I met yesterday. After Joe had worked for more than half the day, he treated me out to lunch at Byron's Hot Dogs. We ended up sharing a half pound steak burger, two orders of fries, and a pizza puff to take home. Oh my gosh it was phenomenal LOL. It was so huge I couldn't even finish my half. Anyway, of course the Holy Spirit was nudging my heart to give this young lady a card. So, I did. Lisbeth, I pray you will be encouraged and enjoy my writings. Time to write!
I remember hearing a story about this girl named Rachel Scott who was killed in the Columbine school shooting. Who knows? The story of Rachel may have been even the same scenario with some other students in this recent school shooting massacre that just happened in Florida.
Do you all remember what happened in Columbine? Most people probably get chills up their spine when they hear the word Columbine. Unfortunately, that name now carrries so much negative baggage behind it. And, unfortunately, that similar incident happened in Florida 19 years later. :(
Way back when that happened April of 1999, there was a story of one of the students named Rachel Scott. She was a 17 year old girl who was one of the 13 people killed in the Columbine High School tragedy. Rachel was a strong Christian and heavily involved in her youth group.
The shooters came to Rachel and shot her twice in the legs and once in the torso. Then they left but moments later came back lifted up her head and said, Do you believe in God?"
Rachel knew that her answer meant life or death. Or, who knows maybe these Godless men would have shot her no matter what she said? After Rachel spoke saying, ("You know I do") one of the shooters said, " Then go be with him," and then shot her in the head.
My writing this morning is on asking ourselves if we have the courage to be faithful. Let's go back to Joseph and examine his life. I would say yes, there were many times when Joseph probably feared for his life. But, there is no mention in these chapters that he ever doubted the good purpose of God's doing in his life.
To reiterate, what exactly would we do if we ever had to fear for our lives?
"When we make the decision to honor Christ, he will help us to overcome our fears." (Daily Bread)

Encouraging thought of the day
You need not fear because God is with you everywhere you go!
Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
