Happy Sunday everybody! I was just thinking well I'm really far into this Genesis series! Then I thought there's just so many thoughts God wants me to share about the characters from this book in the Bible.
Disownment. Sounds like a pretty mean thing. Doesn't it? Can you imagine if you're genuine parents found an unforgivable fault in their children that they would disown them? Talk about harsh! Definitely not talk about forgiveness!
I mean you've read many times when I've been writing my thoughts about forgiveness. I'm pretty sure I've played the song Forgiveness by Matthew West definitely more than one time maybe more than 3 times lol.
You know who I'm thinking about that was practically disowned? What about Ishmael? Remember him? He was a product of the very odd and very very unnecessary "sexual meeting" that was made from Abraham and Hagar. I mean the birth of Ishmael was a beautiful thing. Don't get me wrong. However, due to the wrong done by the parents, poor Ishmael had to suffer quite a bit.
This man was not verbally declared by his parents disowned. However, I'm kind of sure that's how he felt. If not pretty close to it.
Remember Sarah and Abraham were trying to have kids, but it just wasn't happening. So, Sarah took it upon herself and made, Hagar, her maidservant sleep with, Abraham,. The results of that was that Hagar became pregnant with the child of Abraham. Sarah wanted to make sure that Abraham's bloodline would continue. And, since Sarah couldn't make do of that, she made Hagar do it.
How do you think the final product, Ishmael, felt? Honestly, there's not too much mention of that in the Book of Genesis. At least not that I can remember. I just remember that Sarah was kind of mean to Ishmael. Poor guy didn't do anything. He was just born! There's a lot more thought to what I have about this, like, "Why didn't Abraham say anything?Like no. I will not sleep with another woman!" Anyway, what was done is done. LOL
TBC..................
