Oh wow! I don't know about you guys but I do struggle with this. I'm guessing everybody really struggles with this. It just differs who we are disobedient to. Maybe, your spouse? Maybe, your parents? Maybe, the authorities? Maybe even to God?
Disobedience against God is the worst! I mean, the consequences or repercussions can be so detrimental especially to your health! Meaning, he can choose whether you live or you die. That sounds pretty serious, right?
I'm thinking in this Genesis series, there was one person who was very disobedient to God. And, boy did she suffer the consequence. Big time! You people who are familiar with the Book of Genesis know exactly who I'm talking about.
I'm talking about the wife of Lot. There's really no mention of her in the Bible except for her disobedience to God. Really, she was known as Lot's wife. I saw somewhere that her name was also Edith. Her husband was Lot. That was the nephew of Abraham. They lived in Sodom. Remember, that is a pretty bad place. Mostly due to its rampant use of homosexuality.
If you would remember, I mentioned before Sodom and Gomorrah. Because of how bad it was, the Lord was going to destroy the place. I mean blow it up to the point where it will no longer exist. Yep, that bad!
The Lord warned a select few of people he wanted to save before he blew up their whole environment. God had one command he wanted people to follow while he did his thing. And, that was this:

As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!” Genesis 19:17
God said that whoever looks back when he's blowing up Sodom and Gomorrah will be "basically" dead. Apparently, whoever did that would become a pillar of salt. Whoa, Nelly! Hey, God can do anything right? I got to give it to God for this. He was pretty creative with the salt thing LOL.
You guys are probably figuring out that somebody turned around and looked back right? Seriously, Lot's wife! How difficult is it to listen to God saying, do not look back when I blow up Sodom and Gomorrah!?

Whatever. I guess the Lord allowed that to happen, I'm assuming so there would be a story like that for us today. I don't know about you guys but years ago when I first heard about that incident, it kind of put a spin on my definition of obedience. So, perhaps that's what it's doing for you guys right now? Is it? Really, it should.

Encouraging Thought of the Day:
When God speaks to us, we need to listen and be obedient or there may be some bad consequences!
