A few years ago when the Cubs weren't that good yet, they were still in their rebuilding years. I was always being ridiculed by the other side fans. This is the time when it wasn't cool to be a Cubs fan. This was the time when the Cubs fans bandwagon was not filling up yet. You know what I mean?
I remember me and my husband bought tickets to go to a game. We found a really good deal and good seats on eBay. Even though the Cubs weren't even that good yet, the tickets for better seats were always sky high! Anyway, the day of the game came. I can't remember who they were playing against I think it was the Pirates, but I'm not sure. We actually had seats really close to the field. The only thing I was worried about was the sun being out, and not having anything to cover my head.
A few innings went by and I was okay then a few more and I started to get hot. So, Joe left and bought me some ice cream. But, when he left, I knew I really needed to get out of the seat and into the shade. So, I asked a stranger next to me if they can help me to get into the shade. Oh, I wasn't using a wheelchair yet, just a seated walker.
I don't really remember but I was feeling weird and so weak. By the time the stranger was about to help me, Joe was back. Joe said I was so red and hot or something. He carried me up to the top where there was shade. And seriously, I don't remember anything after that. Here is my husband and his words with what happened next...
"Basically, I carried all our stuff on my shoulder and quickly carried Sam up to the top row. Actually it's behind the top row of seats. That's usually where the handicapped chairs are at. So I asked the guard if we could sit there. Luckily, no one was sitting there so we ended up sitting there the rest of the game. Sam's temperature eventually came back down and she was fine."
At that time, my husband didn't really work out, not like he does now. So, for him to carry me up all those stairs all the way to the top is definitely due to the work of God! And, Joe's motivation to help his wife before something really bad happened.
I don't know if Joe asked God to give him strength to get up the stairs. But, what I do know is that God just gave it! God saw that I really needed help, and he gave it! He might not have asked intentionally, but boy I was pretty blessed that God did!
You know what that reminds me of in the Book of Genesis? Noah! Why? Little old man Noah built the ark! Do you think Noah thought that he would be able to do such a difficult task? Not to mention everyone was mocking him and thinking he was crazy. Maybe he had a little doubt? He had to completely trust in God and that's what he did, hence the end result was the ark! Like for me and my little incident, my husband trusted in God, hence the end result was cooler air! And I think I remember eating a cold lemon treat. Like an Icee? LOL
I thought this writing was appropriate since Baseball is starting back again in a couple of days. I'm so excited for my Cubbies! Let's go Cubs!
