So to all the people I met this morning, I pray that you guys will be encouraged by the writings! Okay friends if you are trying to calculate. I have one card left. Will I give it away to someone here or will I just give it to Brandice and maybe she can give someone on the bus or something? We shall see!
I want to speak about my pastor's mom. Every weekend, I believe he went to go visit her. She was in her old age. My pastor made sure to come visit her weekly. He was still her little boy. :-) His mom did not know the Lord as her personal Lord and savior. My pastor would share the gospel with her at times but I guess she just never wanted to receive the love of Christ.
He kept trying to share the gospel with her, but he wasn't going to force it. No one can force your beliefs. It's only between you and God or whatever. The last meeting with her was a lot different. Pastor was saying that he shared the gospel with her one more time. He mentioned that his mom was doing really bad and was close to death.
- Anyway, pastor Gerry shared the gospel with his mom. And her response was different from any other time he shared the gospel with her. What Pastor said was that this time her answer was all in her tear drop. His mother was woken up because she was on her deathbed. I was woken up when I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Now I'm going to give examples of a character in the Bible that was also woken up.
Ooh pause break, Brandice's boss just called me. Unfortunately, she won't be in today for health reasons. Praying that she'll be okay! Well, she's not coming, and my hands are freezing so Pat got me some hot water! Pat, thank you and I'm praying that you will be encouraged by my writings! That was so nice I should have asked him to be a follower on my page. LOL next time!
Okay, the character in the Book of Genesis I am thinking of right now is Abraham. I'm thinking that Abraham was kind of in a bad place in his mind, as far as what the Lord was wanting him to do. Remember I spoke before about God telling Abraham that he needed to sacrifice his son Isaac? I'm thinking that would constitute as suffering in the mind. This man was probably so confused and just did not know what to do. Should I honor God? Or, should I let my son live? Something like that!
The title of my reading this morning is Who do you turn to. First of all, you need to understand that God doesn't make you suffer because he wants you to suffer. He allows the suffering for you. I'm asking myself why is that God? Now I'm answering myself and saying because he wants us to turn to him! Oops, the Lord is trying to get our attention!
I don't know what he allowed in your life and if you are suffering but for me, he is trying to get my attention by allowing me to have MS. And, for reasons I don't understand now.
Anyway, I totally am reminded of Job in the Bible. Anyway, he had so much faith in God that no one can break. So, Satan asked the Lord if he would totally mess with him. The Lord allowed that. Why? Well, I think the Lord is still doing that today he's allowing suffering.
Why is God even allowing it, though? Well, it's because he wants to see the real you and us, I guess.
GL says "He wants to see what we are made of. God wants to separate the real from the false. The wheat from the tares. When we people get attacked a real believer will turn to God and an unbeliever will turn against him"Let me end my writing with another cool quote from Greg Laurie.
"Suffering does not create character; it reveals it."

Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 55:22 ESV
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Romans 12:19 ESV
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
