I Hate Dysphasia!

Oops, I forgot to give a shout out earlier to two people. First of all, thank you too Jackie for getting me a cup of hot water yesterday at Starbucks. And, shout out and thank you so much to Nick for putting my cord in the charger. I pray that you two will be encouraged by my writings! Now time to drive in!

My parents wonder. My non-immediate family wonders. Friends wonder. Loved ones who just don't know Wonder. They just see what's on the outside. Once they know, especially if their medical people they totally understand. There may be people who will find out what's really going on, but they still really do not understand, unless they really study what it is and hear it from the patient's mouth!

As you can see from my words, it is quite frustrating. Not only is it frustrating for me because of people always asking, lecturing or just giving kind of disgusted sad looking faces. However it's frustrating because it's something I cannot control!

Sorry for the confusion. Have any of you ever heard of Dysphasia? Probably not. Well, unless you deal with it or have a loved one that deals with it. Here is what Google says. "difficulty in speaking due to a physical disorder of the mouth, tongue, throat, or vocal cords."

Yup. That sounds just about exactly right. How does it affect Sam? I hate it. I have my many reasons why. I could vent about this till the cows come home. So to speak.

Because of this, I have a unique way of eating. I'll give a scenario. Actually, just over the holiday my Aunt in law, Annie, saw something. Her, being a nurse had eyes that targeted my difficulty eating. So, she began to help me. She cut my burger into four pieces. She would actually feed me too! When I was done, she noticed I'm sure I didn't really eat much. And she surprisingly asked me did I eat?

I said yes. then I asked her if she knew I had dysphasia? She said no. Then she said oh! Her whole attitude and demeanor changed tremendously. I said, "do you know what that is? Oh yeah wait you know what that is. You're a nurse!" She told me that she worked with many of the elderly who had dysphasia. They would eat a little, but then in like a half hour want to eat again. And, the cycle repeats throughout the day. I said yes! So, you totally understand what I go through!  She said yes. Thank you Auntie Annie for helping me eat the other day! Love you!

Totally, got me thinking about God really being the only one who knows what's truly in our hearts. See, people only see what's on the outside, but they don't know what's really going on unless you tell them. With God, you don't have to say anything if you don't want to. He already knows. Because he knows what's in our hearts.

Friends, do you look at other people and are quick to judge them for what you see on the outside? Maybe, we should take time to find out what is really going on and what is on the inside before we become quick to say anything.

Samuel 16:7

People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
