Yesterday, I was blessed to meet Jim and Brenda, two people from the UIC Home Modifications Department and Sujata the architect! They came to go look at my condo and are about to make some changes for my safety. I was blessed to have the opportunity to give them my cards so that they can read my blog writings and be encouraged by the works of God! Guys, it was so awesome meeting you and I pray that you will be encouraged by my writings! Let's Dive in!
Last night I attended my dad's Milestone birthday party! It seems like there were hundreds of people all in their house enjoying fellowship and camaraderie with other people and sharing so many different delicious entrees from the Philippine culture! They were so yummy in our tummies!
Everybody who came were either introduced to new faces, reconnected with familiar faces they haven't seen in a long time, or maybe just didn't meet with anyone new or not new. Trust me, I believe that might have been a possibility because there was just too many people, inside or outside the house! Unfortunately, towards the end of the night, the people who chose to stay outside were at risk of being bitten by mosquitoes!
I'm seriously so blessed to have reconnected with a family friend. Perhaps, this woman was my mother's age or younger? Her words she shared with me were such a blessing and truly touched my heart. So much, that I'm now ready to do my writing and the Lord reminded me of those beautiful words. Apparently, he would like me to share them with you guys!
This woman has a daughter, probably 5-10 years younger than me. I have no idea. Anyway, we ended up speaking of the subject of her homosexual daughter who recently got married to another woman. You know me. I'm not afraid or shamed to spark up a conversation that may seem to others to be uncomfortable. So, I knew that me and this woman were cool, and so I was comfortable with what I asked her. I asked her what was her response and what were her feelings when her daughter told her she was going to marry another female.
Do you think the mother replied with hatred and disgust? No. She didn't. Man, I had to spit out a quick prayer that I can do this writing without tearing up. This woman's response to her daughter was I think exactly what Jesus would have wanted her to do. This mother did not bombard her with questions of why. She didn't show her daughter any signs of loathing her because of her lifestyle choices. The mother told me she loved her. She was her daughter. And, the mother wanted to show her daughter her love.
She was also telling me that her daughter's mother in law was very sick and dying. This woman asked my family friend if she would take care of her daughter and treat her like her own. Not verbatim, but to that effect.
Wow, now that was a total act of love and kindness, I pray that someday to always be able to emulate! Thank you for blessing me with your words last night. What a beautiful showing of kindness and awesome reminder to me to hate the sin but love the sinner!
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 John 4: 8- 9
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
