In the past I know I mentioned in the other writings that I feel like a retired woman. Well, kinda. Let me explain.
Many years ago when I was 13, me and my best friend at that time, Laura, really wanted to work. I was a Daddy's girl and an only child. So, for me, it would have been foolish to try to get a job because really if I wanted anything and it was worth getting, I just asked my dad. :-) Life was a lot less complicated at that age. However, at the time,my best friend and I did work as as waitresses at a place that doesn't even exist anymore.
Pause break. Shout out to Katie and Ellen! Katie thank you so much for zipping closed my makeup bag. I pray you two ladies will be encouraged by the writings!
Pause break again. Sommer! Get this. So I met this girl a year ago she came in and I gave her a card. A year later today, she came in just to stop and talk to me and say hi to me! I do remember the name. So that was cool. We did chit chat a little bit. Girl, I pray you will be encouraged by the writings on my blog.
Anyway, back to the writing. So, yes I feel retired. Really only because I have no opportunity to do things. So, I'm limited due to my disability. I still have the brains. I am a well-educated woman who has excellent communication skills and finds it fun at times, a simple perk to build rapport with kind people.
Yeah I know it's kind of silly to regard me as a retired woman but, it is what it is. I believe it is how God has allowed it to be. On the other side of the fence let's look at something. Let's examine the genuine use of the word retirement.
I'm thinking of the very elderly people who have worked for many years and have come to realize that due to negative physical or mental stuff going on in their bodies, he or she just can't do the work thing anymore.
They really need to retire.
I think of people and what they say are their goals now that they'retired. Waking up whenever they want and taking mini-vacation, finances permitting. That sounds like the norm.
Philippians 3:14 ESV
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

The following are some thoughts from Miss C. LewisPause break! Caregiver and I were at Daley Plaza this afternoon. And gave two cards 2 Melanie and Deborah ladies it was nice meeting you and thanks for accepting my cards period and praying will be encouraged by the writings!
"1) For most of the history of the world, if you were alive and able, you worked
2) My dad said (many researchers agree): early retirement means earlier death.
3) Retirees often focus on themselves, but God says we must focus on others.
4) When people don't feel driven or useful, they can waste away like abandoned cars.
Conclusion? If my fellow seniors retire from jobs, they need new jobs that help other people. God's Great Commission never expires."
