Power Series Part 21: Social Media Has Power

This can be really bad or really good. Perhaps there are a few snapshots of some beautiful scenery, your Facebook buddy tagged you on because he or she wanted to share.

I'm not really sure how to feel about pictures of food. My husband likes taking pictures all the time of certain foods we eat and posting. Really, only if the presentation on the plate looks pretty nice.

I guess it's a good reminder to me to start creating some recipes for this food we ate. (Of course while adding our own personal twist!)  I also suppose it's a good way for me to remember to formulate a somewhat similar recipe for these Foods.

I was just thinking right now what if social media was around back in Jesus day. I'm imagining Jesus getting a Facebook message saying that the bad guys are coming after to kill you. Dude run! Jesus would probably reply to the message with something like this, " It's all good man it's my Dad's plan. He's been planning this for years. And, you know us kids we have to obey our parents. And, plus I want to do what my dad has planned. I love all humans. But thank you for the heads up I really appreciate it."

Another thing is maybe Judas would be trying to Facebook message Jesus, to tell him the bad guys are coming cuz they wanted to kill him. Yeah, maybe Judas had a change of heart? No, I'm kidding. Please don't put truth to that.

Nowadays, social media is the X Factor. The IT thing. Jenai, my caregiver always tells me she is not a"techie." She's happy with paper and pen.

As for me, I welcome every bit of technology advancements there are.  My penmanship went out the window. So, telling Alexa to turn on the filter, or turning on and off the lights. Or, asking my Google Assistant what the weather is? That's the way I do things. Facebook and other social media Giants, No thank you is what Jenai would say!

So, what are my deep thoughts on why social media has Power? Okay let me think. Well, how about this? The posts that people read may severely damage a relationship or friendship. Yeah, I'll take that and tackle that reason why social media has power. I've spoken to many people who shared with me that their boyfriend-girlfriend relationship was totally torn apart because he or she made a friendship with someone on Facebook. First, it turned out just with innocent chatting as casual friends. Then the person was visited by that other person. You guys are smart people you probably can put two and two together and figure the result
was cheating.

As I've said before, me and my new caregiver have been watching a lot of Jerry Springer lately. Why? I have no idea What entertains us I guess.

I believe it's pretty right on to say that with the creation of social media like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. etc, I really believe in this. The ratings for shows like the Jerry Springer show and other talk shows have gone Sky High.

And, I guess some people are just crazy. Why they want to broadcast their personal confessions to other people on national television? I don't know? Why would they want to showcase their hurt feelings
and utilize the other party as a human punching bag? Again, I have no idea?

If the show is super interesting and entertaining, it might even be posted on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter or something.

See, what I'm saying about social media having power? I think society today is so entertained by social media. To reiterate, that can be a good or bad thing. I personally think that the first thing we should do is determine and research and truly find out if what we read on social media was fact or fiction. Is it really the truth or a fabricated lie?  Seriously, we need to find out the truth before we jump to conclusions. Before we begin to hurt people and before we begin to feel
hurt, ourselves. Spending time finding out if it's truth may just save you from a lot of sad tears.

Christians may use social media as an avenue to reach a wide variety of people to pray to Jesus for them. Maybe
some people are so inspired by a Bible verse, They post it for everyone else to see and be inspired. They would like to share it as a post. That's always encouraging to read right? Or, maybe even a song?

Though I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink. Instead I hope to come to you and talk face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
