Power Series Part 81: Power Of S&D

Play for the Audio Version

The story of Samson and Delilah. Have you guys heard of those two memorable Bible characters? If you are interested to read about them, read Judges 13 through 16. Watch videos about them. Google about them.

Samson was a child of God. Delilah was not. Ever since Samson started dating Delilah he would fall deep into sin. I'm not saying Delilah made him sin but pretty sure he was influenced by her.

He also did not take his rightful place as Judge of Israel. He was a Nazarite. He couldn't drink wine, touch dead bodies, or cut his hair.

He drank wine at a party. He killed a lion and then a couple of days later he saw there was honey inside the dead lion. So, he ate it. Yes, I know how gross!

Finally, he let Delilah cut his hair. You all are probably thinking what is wrong with cutting his hair? Right? Well, his hair was where the power was. His strength was in his hair and when his hair was gone, the Lord did something and his power left him. I would suggest definitely reading into that of how his hair was gone and his power left him.

The point of all this was that Samson was being disobedient. Disobedient to God. And, he brought that disobedience all the way to telling Delilah something he shouldn't have told her.

Let's all pray together. Father, thanks for sharing the story of Samson and Delilah. Oh, how there are some points to their story some of us find our own selves in sometimes. I think of disobedience to you Lord. When you clearly put an when you clearly put in our hearts what we should or should not do. Help has God to choose more the way of obedience. Obedience to your will and to your way. We love you God and we praise you. In Jesus' name Amen.
