Put on New Clothes

Play for the Audio Version

I have a lot of clothes. At least that's what I hear from my mom when she's looking through my stuff. My husband agrees too, and tells me at times we should really give some to the Salvation Army. I'm totally cool with it. Yet, did I mention he's the one that may see a stylish article of clothing, and then ends up getting it for me. In his defense, we haven't gone shopping in a long time!

I admit I like to keep my old clothes. I mean from the 90s! Joe, on the other hand hates when I do that. I have a little bit of a good reason to that. The 90s stuff is coming back to be what is in nowadays! I guess I've just gotten attached to those clothes. Perhaps, though time is coming when I need 2 be out with the old and in with the new.

This makes me think of the one verse about "The old has gone the new has come." That is exactly what happened to me and other fellow Christians the moment we invite Jesus into our lives!

I once read that we shouldn't be so worried about when Jesus is coming back. Rather, we should be focused on what you are to be doing while you await. Let me add on to that and say maybe we should be focused on what we are wearing.  Will our clothing be pleasing to the Lord? I'm not talking about literal clothes like a low cut bikini like crop top paired with some Daisy Dukes. No, not that. I mean you all have your own choosing about the clothes you wear.

I am talking about what you wear on your sleeve . I think that's how the saying goes. Anyway I'm talking about putting on clothes of love.  Anyone still wearing the old clothes? Or, have you put on the new clothes that have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. No I did not make those up, those are the fruits of the spirit! :-) Does your new clothing have a heart of forgiveness towards other people that harm you?!

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here

Romans 12:1-2

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:1

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
