Joseph, The Unheralded, Hero

Play for the Audio Version

I think if there's one character in the Bible who hasn't really been spoken too much about, he would be the guy! We, who are readers of the Bible don't really read the feelings that Joseph had. Because they were not even recorded. So, we do not know.
At least I don't think. However,
what was recorded really was his obedience to the Lord!

Can you imagine being told by your fiance that she's pregnant? And, the thing is you two never even consummated your relationship with the S word.

That's exactly what Joseph heard! I'm thinking that this man was pretty mad. Probably really confused, sad, and frustrated. And, more mad.  He probably was starting to think all crazy.

Good thing the angel of the Lord told him in a dream. Mary was pregnant by the Holy Spirit. And, she was going to give birth to a son and they were to give Him the name, Jesus. And, he was going to be the Messiah. He was going to save people all over the world!

Now, I'm thinking
that maybe he was feeling a little bit better. At least his girl did not cheat on him. He was probably super confused. He probably did not know what to think. Perhaps, he was thinking his friend slipped some drugs or something in his meal? I don't know. I'm just thinking.

The end result was that Joseph trusted in what the angel was saying. He took Mary as his wife and she gave birth to a little boy. They named him Jesus! Joseph was Jesus's earthly father! That's the way God wanted it to be!

Michael Card:
Joseph song

(1:20–21 NLT).
Matthew’s Gospe

tells us, “As he [Joseph] considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. ‘Joseph, son of David,’ the angel said, ‘do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins’”

Matthew 1:18

This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
